Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Okay, all you viewers out there who may have complained a little bit about the past couple of episodes, get ready because Sunday’s episode will make up for it 100 times over. Seriously, every last minute is amazing, action-packed, and with one big (actually HUGE) punch in the final moments. No big spoilers here, but here are a few teasers as to why this episode is, by far, the best of the season thus far.
First, yes, Eph pushes forward with the very stupid (at least in my opinion) decision to make the trip to Washington D.C. and kickstart the process of getting his strigoi plague mass-produced. Well, he’s a wanted fugitive, and so, he really can’t do something like board a train without everyone recognizing him. So, his first order of business is to get a new look, which means bye-bye to his hair (actually bye-bye to the wig). Everything goes smoothly as Eph boards a train without a hitch — until he runs into an old “friend.” A big fight ensues which culminates with Eph throwing the “friend” from the train. We can’t be sure if the fall killed him, but I personally hope so because the man has always been annoying as hell.
How many of you love the feelers? Oh, hell, me too. One of the creepiest creatures I’ve ever seen in a long time, and I’ve seen a lot. Anyways, they have a major presence in this episode when these “spider children,” as they are called by the local police, infest a Red Hook apartment building. I really can’t say more, but I can promise you that these kids are one of the highlights of the episode, and they turn out to have a lot more special powers than having noses of a bloodhound and being able to crawl around like grand-daddy long-legs. **Amazing** scenes.
However, the spidey children taking out the Red Hook police force one-by-one isn’t the most disturbing part of the episode. Instead, it was Eldritch Palmer going on a “date” with Coco Marshant. And, to top it off, the feeling seems to be mutual as Coco ends up being the one doing the most flirting. Oh, please, excuse me because I think I’m going to vomit here. Oh, and by the way, I wonder if Palmer knows that if he gets his wish and the Master turns him, his schlong falls off, which means no fun times with the cute Coco.
And, now, for that “big punch”… Last week, we were introduced to the Silver Angel, one of the major characters in The Strain trilogy. This week, in the final 5 minutes of the episode, it appears that another key player from the books is introduced and in a very dramatic way. So, don’t you dare flip off that TV before the episode is completely over, because this is definitely a scene you won’t want to miss.
Jamie Hector(“Person of Interest”), Roger Cross(“Dark Matter”), and Rupert Penry-Jones(“Black Sails”) guest-star.
Episode 2.05 of The Strain is titled “Quick and Painless” and airs Sunday at 10/9c on FX.
