As has been rumored for months, The Walking Dead’s most iconic villain, Negan, portrayed by the immensely-talented Jeffrey Dean Morgan, is to make his first appearance in the season 6 finale of the highly-popular zombie drama. With the finale being just 10 days away, the buzz and the hype have been increasing, with more details surfacing on what may be the most memorable episode of the series thus far.
This being said, an international promo for the 6B finale, titled “Last Day On Earth,” just came out early this morning, and hold onto your knickers, folks, because YES it does include the very first look at our bat-wielding villain in his trademark black leather jacket. Check it out:

The big question is whether this clip is real. Given some other details that have leaked thus far, I do believe it is. Before the casting of Jeffrey Dean Morgan had been announced, it was originally thought that Steven Ogg had landed the coveted role, but it was later revealed that Ogg had been cast instead as one of Negan’s Lead Saviors. We can see Ogg in this video as the Savior who tells Rick that he “doesn’t negotiate.”
We can also see a group of walkers that have been tied together serving as a kind of “walker trap,” which is another detail that had been leaked online earlier this week. But, of course, the big “tell” is the voice that says “Hi. I’m Negan.” As a big fan of JDM and as someone who has watched him as Jason Crouse on The Good Wife for an entire season, I can tell you with 100% certainty that this is Jeffrey Dean Morgan. So, yes, everyone, this video is on the level.
Speaking of spoiler leaks, perhaps the biggest piece of information that has surfaced over the past week is the nasty rumor that Negan won’t be appearing until the last 10 minutes of the finale (which will be 90 minutes BTW, in case you didn’t know) and that the episode will end with the cliffhanger of the century and us not knowing which beloved character met an unfortunate end at the hands of Negan’s “sweet Lucille.” Do I believe this is true? We will have to wait and see, but yes, I’m inclined to believe it. I don’t like it, I think it’s a crappy thing to do to the fans, but hey, that’s another topic for another article.
In the meantime, enjoy the video and be sure to check back later for a Preview of this Sunday’s penultimate episode titled “East,” which while isn’t even in the same league as the highly-anticipated finale, is still a nail-biter just as well.
The season 6 finale of The Walking Dead airs on Sunday, April 3rd, at 9/8c on AMC.
