Warning: General spoilers ahead
If you had the gut feeling last week that Cole, Ramse, and Dr. Railly were at a crossroads and a wedge was slowly going to pull apart the trio, you were 100% on spot. While Ramse and Cassie may have seemed worlds apart, they are now closer than ever, thanks in part to The Keeper bringing the truth of their animosity towards one another out in the open. Well, in this week’s episode, the line is definitely drawn in the sand, with Ramse and Cassie — blinded by rage and revenge — creating their own agenda and not caring much anymore what Cole nor Dr. Jones wants.
It all comes to a head when the temporal storms pick up speed and Dr. Jones determines their only hope is to go back and stop the final paradox, which she feels is tied to a factory explosion that occurs in New York City in 1957. Cole agrees and is ready to go, but Ramse and Cassie — not so much. They believe the intel they got from The Keeper and are dead-set on going back to 1961 to find this Dr. Kirschner. If they can get to Kirschner before the Massad does, then maybe he can lead them to Titan and the Witness.
Well, Ramse and Cassie do win this little tug-of-war and head to 1961 but not in the way you may think. What’s more, while Ramse may have called Cole a “hot-head” and impulsive time and time again, he’s the one who doesn’t think rationally in this episode. He has a perfect opportunity to stop the Messengers from coming into being in the first place, but instead, he chooses to snatch up another clue about the location of Titan.
And, what is the cost? Well, remember those temporal storms getting closer? Cole isn’t able to stop the final paradox because he’s stuck in 1961 with Ramse and Cassie, and so, now what? Let ‘s just hope Dr. Jones has a Plan B lurking in her bag of tricks.
Matt Frewer (“Orphan Black”) guest-stars as Dr. Albert Kirschner and Jay Karnes reprises his role as FBI Agent Gale.
Episode 2.10 of 12 Monkeys is titled “Fatherland” and airs Monday at 9/8c on Syfy.
