Truth be told, while I love each and every character on Z Nation, Doc (Russell Hodgkinson) has been my favorite since day one. Charming, handsome, and a sense of humor that could make you laugh on the worse Z-day in the apocalypse. I had interviewed Russell just prior to the season premiere, and he mentioned there are a couple of cool Doc-centric episodes coming up. So, when I learned that Friday’s episode was the first of these, needless to say I was pretty damn excited.
In tomorrow’s episode, Doc is somehow separated from the group and subsequently kidnapped by Elvis Presley himself AKA the resident Elvis impersonator at the Serenity Hills Institution for the Criminally Insane. The patients hear him referred to as “Doc,” and because they have only a nurse and no real doctor, they feel it is critical to force him to come to Serenity Hills. Once Doc arrives, he also finds a very familiar face among their patients. It seems they recently found 10K (Nat Zang) wondering around, mumbling to himself about a “blue man,” The Man from Zona, and all sorts of other gibberish that would make sense only to our little 5-person rag-tag gang.
The problem is the head nurse is a little unhinged herself and believes 10K to be a serious threat. So, Doc now has the job of keeping 10K safe and far away from Psycho Nurse, but at the same time, figure a way out of this Hospital of Horrors.
Episode 3.07 of Z Nation is titled “Doc Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’ and airs Friday at 9/8c on Syfy.
