Warning: Spoilers Ahead
In a recent interview, actor Barry Sloane said that we won’t know exactly what we’re dealing with in this show until episode 4, which means that we’re not going to get any answers in tomorrow’s episode. But having already screened the episode, I can tell that we do get some damn good clues.
In the 2nd episode of this fantastic new series, the focus is primarily on 2 characters — Sean Bennigan (Milo Ventimiglia) and Minx Lawrence (Kylie Rogers). After having escaped the hospital, Sean is on the move with his plan — whatever that plan may be. Remember, he’s the only adult we have seen thus far who is involved with whatever “Drill” is trying to do, but in contrast to the children, he appears possessed and under the control of someone or something. Whatever his plan turns out to be, he needs help because he takes a hostage in the final moments of the episode.
In the meantime, Minx is coming along with her new instructions from Drill. She enlists the help from her friend, Tonya, on the new task assigned to her, all while her parents remain oblivious that her new “friend” is the same friend who was involved in the treehouse accident at the Wail residence.
And, with not being able to hold back the sketch of Sean any longer, Claire (Lily Rabe) is forced to confess to her partner, Rollins (Derek Webster), that she suspects her husband as the man they are looking for. This creates a wedge between the 2 and puts her on even shakier ground with the agency.
So down the rabbit hole we go further…
Episode 1.02 of The Whispers is titled “Hide and Seek” and airs Monday at 10/9c on ABC.
