Warning: Spoilers ahead
After one failed attempt after another to stop Drill, Claire (Lily Rabe) and Wes (Barry Sloane) come up with the best idea anyone has had yet in this week’s episode. After paying a visit to the local electric company and inquiring about any recent abnormalities or energy spikes, they discover that all of the energy peaks are at locations that Drill had visited. This also means they now have a way to track Drill, and as an added bonus, they inadvertently have stumbled on a possible way to trap and kill him.
The plan is actually brilliant. Locate Drill, and then, in a series of strategic brownouts throughout the city, force him to a particular location. Once at the target location, shut off the power, which would effectively trap Drill since he can’t move without electricity. However, the big question is given how intelligent Drill has demonstrated that he is, can we really believe that he would fall for such a trap? Or, will he have a backup, or quit possibly have set a trap of his own?
You’ll have to watch yourself, as it truly is an amazing episode, and most definitely the best of the entire season thus far. Great story, great performances by all the cast, a solid “A” episode. However, unfortunately, one character doesn’t make it out of this episode alive. We all know that Drill is evil, but we also know that he is quite vengeful. Piss him off, and make no mistake, he will strike back. And, this week, he does — and with fatal results.
Episode 1.10 of The Whispers is titled “Darkest Fears” and airs Monday at 10/9c on ABC.
