Warning: General spoilers ahead
There have been 2 times this season when Shades of Blue literally shocked the sh*t out of me. The big one is when Woz killed Saperstein (and twice, no less!). I can’t imagine any viewer being more stunned with any other scene. However, last week’s big reveal that Harlee had taken the entire $12 million dollars came in a pretty close 2nd. I mean, what the hell? What. The. Hell! What can Harlee’s intentions possibly be? Is she simply trying to turn the tables on Stahl in a last ditch effort to gain control of an impossible situation and save the rest of her crew? Or, is her desperation regarding Miguel clouding her judgement and causing her to think more about herself and Christine than the real goal of the mission — to bring down the bad guys which includes Donnie, Linklater, and of course, Wozniak. I’m really trying to be optimistic and am leaning towards the former, especially with the below synopsis released by NBC.
In tonight’s season 1 finale, unable to provide Donnie (guest star Michael Esper) and Linklater (Stephen Lang) to the FBI, Harlee (Jennifer Lopez) makes a deal with Stahl (Warren Kole) to exchange her own immunity for that of her crew.
In the meantime, Harlee comes face to face with Miguel (guest star Antonio Jaramillo) who reveals his darkest side as he demands to be a part of Cristina’s (Sarah Jeffery) life.
How does everyone think the season will end? Will the money come back into play, and if so, who will go down for the crime? And, even more importantly, will everyone make it out alive? My money’s on Donnie biting the dust and quite possibly at the hands of Woz. We all know that Wozniak doesn’t tolerate betrayal, and his gay lover has already crossed that line multiple times. But, what about Wozniak himself? If you have read my past articles, you know that I hate the man. He killed Saperstein, who was supposedly his good friend and like a son to him, and he did so on the flimsiest of evidence. Stupid, spineless move. And, even with that tear-jerker of a confession last week, in my eyes Wozniak is completely beyond redemption. So, if he meets an unfortunate end, who in the hell cares! But, would the show kill off one of its leads and before even making it to season 2? It definitely would be a ballsy thing to do. Be sure to tune in tonight to find out.
The season 1 finale of Shades of Blue is titled “One Last Lie” and airs tonight at 10/9c on NBC.
