Warning: General spoilers ahead
This is going to be a good week I can already tell, and one of the main reasons for that is Chicago Med is back (finally!) . I know all shows have them, but man, a month-long break totally sucks ass.
In this week’s episode, Nurse Lockwood (Marlyne Barrett) gets arrested for refusing to violate hospital policy and draw blood from a suspected DUI patient without his consent. Dr. Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) discusses with his lawyer the severity of the pending lawsuit against him.
Elsewhere, Dr. Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) deal with a single mother and her 6-month old, but when the baby’s injuries come into question, concerns are raised. Meanwhile, Dr. Charles (Oliver Platt), who is dealing with some personal issues, and Sarah Reese (Rachel DiPillo) attend to a patient that was hit by a car, but suspicions abound when they dig deeper.
The part I’m particularly excited about in this episode is after 11 episodes, it appears we’re finally going to get some of the backstory on Dr. Charles. It’s no secret that he’s my favorite character on the show, and of course, Oliver Platt has a lot to do with that. So, I’ve been anxiously awaiting when the onion is finally peeled back, and we get a peek at the man behind that hospital coat. It’s been hinted — even by the actor himself — that the good psychiatrist who somehow manages to solve everyone else’s problems may have some pretty big ones of his own. And, today, the show’s official Twitter dropped a big hint by teasing “Discover Dr. Charles’ dark side this Tuesday on #ChicagoMed.” What secrets does Dr. Charles hold? Who knows, but you can bet I’ll be tuning in Tuesday to find out.
Episode 1.12 of Chicago Med is titled “Guilty” and airs Tuesday at 9/8c on NBC.
