Warning: Spoilers Ahead
I took the time to screen episode 1.03 of 12 Monkeys this past weekend, and all I have to say is that everyone should be excited for Friday. I absolutely loved the Pilot, but honestly, this episode somehow managed to top itself and be better.
The last episode had Cole going back to 2015 to track down Leland Goines’ institutionalized daughter, Jennifer (Emily Hampshire), with the hope of learning who or what the Army of the 12 Monkeys is. While this is still part of Cole’s mission, a new clue leads Cole in this episode back to 2014 in Haiti, where Dr. Railly worked with the CDC during a virus outbreak.
Official Synopsis from Syfy: “A search for the location of the virus leads Cole to 2014, when a dangerous outbreak in Haiti once proved a devastating moment in Dr. Railly’s life.”
The synopsis hints that the spotlight of the episode is on Dr. Railly and the outbreak in Haiti, and while both are important to the overall plot, the real focus of the episode is on another doctor that Dr. Railly meets while she is in Haiti. And, be sure to pay particularly good attention because the episode ends with a somewhat shocking twist that I think will surprise everyone.
Episode 1.03 of 12 Monkeys is titled “Cassandra Complex” and airs this Friday at 9/8c on Syfy.
