Okay, my co-workers now have confirmation that I’m crazy because when The Hollyword Reporter broke the news moments ago that The Walking Dead comic-book ‘Heath’ had been cast, I stood up and screamed in my office. Literally. Everybody who knows me knows very well that Heath is my favorite comic-book character, and so, needless to say, I’m beyond thrilled.
Heath will be portrayed by Corey Hawkins, best known for his work on the NWA biopic Straight Outta Compton. In the comics, Heath is a very important pivotal character who eventually partners up with Glenn as part of a 2-person supply-running team. It’s still unknown if he will have that same role in the television series, but given Noah and Aiden’s deaths and Nicolas’ demonstrated incompetence as a supply runner, my guess is that he will.
Now, the only other question is what about casting for Dr. Denise Cloyd? In the comic-book series, Heath was Dr. Cloyd’s love interest, and so, it makes sense that she would be cast as well (unless the writers decide to make a major deviation from the source material). I personally think we’ll be hearing about Dr. Cloyd being cast very soon, and here is my article discussing the reasons why.
The Walking Dead returns for Season 6 in October. The exact date isn’t known yet but is expected to be announced at San Diego Comic-Con next month, where the worldwide release of the Season 6 trailer will also occur. I will be onsite for TV Geek Talk for SDCC, so be sure to check back as we get closer to the event.
