Warning: General Spoilers Ahead
Still reeling from last week’s shocking and heart-wrenching episode? I know I sure am. I’ll admit a big part of me knew that Wozniak (Ray Liotta) was going to find a way to kill Saperstein (Santino Fontana), but at the same time, I had a tad bit of hope that the part of Wozniak that was still human — the same part we saw in the Pilot where he treated his team like they were family — would somehow prevail. But, no. Sigh. Definitely was a Jack Daniels lets-get-drunk episode.
Well, you may want to restock that Jack because you’ll probably need it again this week. Tomorrow’s episode deals with the aftermath of Saperstein’s death, and the one thing I can tell you is that it’s one big emotional roller coaster. You have the team wrestling with being told Saperstein betrayed them all and with the grief of losing a friend they had known for 6 years. Emotions definitely run high, with more than a few fights breaking out as Harlee (Jennifer Lopez), who is the only one who knows Saperstein is innocent, is very quick to defend her fallen friend.
The big question is what will Harlee do now? Will she continue to protect the man who pretty much saved her from a horrid life 10 years ago, but who is also a murderer now? Or, will Saperstein’s murder be the final straw and she’ll decide to help nail the man? We don’t know until the very end of the episode, but make no mistake, these final scenes are some of the best of the series thus far, with Jennifer Lopez giving a stellar performance as well. In short, this is an episode you definitely won’t want to miss.
Episode 1.08 of Shades of Blue is titled “Good Cop, Bad Cop” and airs Thursday at 10/9c on NBC.
