Warning: Spoilers Ahead

As we may recall, the winter finale of The Good Wife left us last month with Eli (Alan Cumming) confessing to Alicia that he deleted a voicemail Will Gardner (Josh Charles) left her years ago as some sort of half-ass penance after getting his own heart broken by Courtney Paige (Vanessa Williams). From our end, it appeared that Eli had the delusion that Alicia was going to see his good intentions of trying to bring her back together with Jason (Jeffrey Dean Morgan), but nope. Not even close. What we saw was the calm before the storm with it all hitting the fan in this Sunday’s mid-season premiere.

For those whose memory may be fuzzy, the voicemail in question is from back in season 1 when Will calls and leaves a message saying that he loves Alicia and will do whatever it takes to be with her. Thinking only of Peter’s campaign, Eli deletes it in an effort to keep the two lovebirds apart.

But, now, 6 years later, after Eli has a hand in sending Jason away, with the pressure of starting over again, and then, all the crap associated with Peter’s bid for the Presidency, Alicia has had enough. She goes complete ape-sh*t on Eli, which he quite deserves, I might add.

In the meantime, tensions run high as the entire Florrick family is crammed into Peter’s campaign bus with Eli and Ruth on their way to the Iowa Caucuses. Once there, Peter attempts a high-risk political stunt to gain votes for his presidential bid.

There are 2 big open questions. First, will Jason be back (albeit if only briefly due to his new gig on The Walking Dead)? I sure hope so because his character has been the highlight of the season thus far. Second, will Alicia seek revenge and do something to sabotage Peter’s campaign? Call me a sadist. Call me an asshole. But, I’m hoping for this as well.

The Good Wife  returns tomorrow night at 9/8c on CBS.
