Warning: Spoilers Ahead
The hunt for a missing teenage girl takes an emotional toll on Sgt. Dodds (Andy Karl), and DNA evidence becomes a crucial lead in finding the girl’s abductor.
This is very short compared to the typical synopsis for the show, and even I’m left wondering what this particular episode will be about. However, even with the bit that we are given, I have a feeling this installment is going to be more about certain members of the SVU squad than about the case.
One is definitely going to be Sgt. Dodds. While he may outrank the other detectives, he’s the newbie in SVU, and as we all know, the nature of this work can take its toll. We’ve already seen that he’s been working too many hours, and he’s been getting too emotionally involved with the cases. Is the guy heading for a complete mental breakdown? I certainly think it’s a possibility.
Then, there’s Lt. Benson. It has been revealed that Noah will be taken in this episode, and with their already working a missing girl case, this will all hit pretty close to home, I’m sure.
Episode 17.07 of Law & Order: SVU is titled “Melancholy Pursuit” and airs tonight at 9/8c on NBC.
