Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Continuing with the 2nd episode of the Red Dragon “mini-series,” tomorrow the FBI’s search for elusive serial killer Francis Dolarhyde (guest star Richard Armitage) intensifies as Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) begins envisioning himself in Dolarhyde’s tormented psyche. Wading deeper into dangerous territory, Will enlists the help of Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) to assist with the killer’s profile. Meanwhile, Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) reminds Will that the last time that he and Hannibal worked together things didn’t end well, but Will sees no other option. Elsewhere, a new woman (guest star Rutina Wesley) comes into Dolarhyde’s life.
For those familiar with the Red Dragon novel and movie, you probably can guess that the new lady that Dolarhyde fancies is blind co-worker, Reba McClane. I absolutely loved this arc in the movie, as Reba is able to show the world that underneath this horrific monster that everybody is fixated on, there is a still good man and one still capable of love.
We also have a familiar face showing up that we haven’t seen in a while. Lara Jean Chorostecki reprises her role as Freddie Lounds, and I’m really looking forward to this little reunion. The last time we saw this flaming red-head, Will snatched her up in his garage and convinced her to fake her own death. I wonder what she’s been doing all this time. Maybe she’s written a book, or two, or three, or four. Surely to God, since even Dr. Chilton has written a book, and he’s 2nd rate compared to Freddie Lounds. Either way, can’t wait to find out.
Episode 3.09 of Hannibal airs on Saturday at 10/9c on NBC.
