Warning: Spoilers Ahead
With the fates of all of our beloved characters revealed last week, we turn our attention in the next episode back to Hannibal in Italy and to Jack Crawford and Inspector Pazzi’s quest to find Il Mostro di Firenze.
In tomorrow’s episode, Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) and Inspector Pazzi (guest star Fortunato Cerlino) search for clues that will lead them closer to Hannibal Lecter’s (Mads Mikkelsen) location in Florence, but the promise of riches offered by Mason Verger (guest star Joe Anderson) threatens to corrupt Pazzi’s quest for redemption. Meanwhile, Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Chiyoh (Tao Okamoto) travel to Florence, both on a mission to find Hannibal, but at odds over the desired outcome. Elsewhere, as Alana Bloom (Caroline Dhavernas) continues to work with Mason Verger she grows concerned for the safety of all involved.
For this particular episode, my biggest question is about the fate of Inspector Pazzi. I’m sure we all remember what Will told him in “Primavera” — “He’s going to kill you, you know, and I’m usually right about these things.” And from the below promotional photos, well, it looks like Pazzi has found Hannibal/Dr. Fell. I’m all but certain that Will is right and Pazzi isn’t going to make it out of this thing alive, but will it happen only 5 episodes into the new season? For those familiar with the Hannibal films and books, take a look at the photo below of Hannibal looking down and out of an open window. Thinking in terms of Pazzi, does that photo ring a bell with a particular scene from the movie Hannibal? It does with me, but we’ll have to wait until tomorrow to find out if I’m right.
Episode 3.05 of Hannibal is titled “Contorno” and airs Thursday at 10/9c on NBC.
