Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Tomorrow, we are heading into the season 4 penultimate episode, and as you may expect, several of the story lines that we have seen throughout the season will be converging and starting to wrap up. One of the biggest ones is the Dominic (Winston Duke) and Elias (Enrico Colantoni) vendetta. This arc has been around since way back in the season premiere, and it stands to reason that it’s about time for it to be resolved. Well, it officially begins tomorrow with both Dominic and Elias’ numbers coming up. Who will be left standing on both sides after all is said and done, we can only guess.
However, there’s actually a lot more that goes on in the episode than meets the eye in the promos that we’ve been provided. As some of you know, I was on the set of Person of Interest while they were filming the episode, and while I was there for only 1 day (which actually equated to only 3 scenes total), I was able to get a few additional hints of what we can expect.
1. This episode was written by Andy Callahan, who also wrote episode 4.12 “Control-Alt-Delete.” That being said, can you guess who will also be a major player in this episode? Yep, Control is back and from every indication, she’s pretty damn pissed and ready to take on Samaritan. If you recall from the final scene of “Control-Alt-Delete,” she discovers fresh paint in the basement of the NY Stock Exchange, which gives Finch and Root’s story that Shaw had been gunned down by Samaritan operatives a lot more credibility.
2. The scene with Control that I got to watch being filmed was an early scene in the episode where Control blows up the mini-van of a soccer Mom, Shelly (Erin Dilly), whom she suspects is working for Samaritan. No worries, soccer Mom isn’t killed, and instead, Control fakes Shelly’s death so that she can take and interrogate her. BTW, if you are asked if you want earplugs and you are standing less than 300 ft. from a car they are about to blow up, take the damn earplugs! Yes, folks, a car explosion is as loud as it sounds on TV!
Oh, I guess you’re wondering whether Control is right about the soccer Mom. Is this seemingly innocent woman actually a Samaritan operative hiding in plain sight? You will probably find it hard to believe when you see the woman, but yep, Control is right.
3. The 2nd scene I got to watch involved Dominic and Link in the aftermath of an attack on the Brotherhood at a courthouse. I didn’t get to see the previous scene, and so, I don’t know exactly how they were attacked, but the Brotherhood do suffer heavy casualties. And, during that scene, they even let me sit at the cameraman’s chair 🙂
4. The final scene I got to see was of Fusco and Reese staking out Dominic’s new base of operations, which is an abandoned warehouse out in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and guess who else shows up? It’s our old pal, Harper, and Reese has a job proposition for her. She did such a good job before in pulling the wool over Dominic’s eyes that perhaps she could it again as a confidential informant for Team Finch. Harper doesn’t bite, though, and promptly tells Finch and his team to piss off.
O-kay. As much as I’ve missed this stimulating conversation, maybe you can just tell me who the mark is… — Harper
Feel like a rematch, kiddo? — Fusco (pointing to Dominic)
Thanks, but I’d prefer to keep breathing — Harper
We can pay you — Reese
‘We’ meaning your rich buddy with the big vocabulary? How many words does Harold have for kiss off? — Harod
And, now, for the big question — is Shaw really going to be back? Yes she is..sort of…but only in a relatively small way. I got to see the sides for the following day’s shoot, and there is a scene with a figure that is supposed to be Shaw’s. I’m fairly certain Sarah Shahi wasn’t even going to be on the set for the scene with their using a stunt double instead, but it does seem to imply that Finch and Root are successful in finding where Greer and Co. are supposedly hiding out Shaw.
I also got to talk to Winston Duke AKA “Dominic” while on set, and I will be sharing that later in the week as well as the additional interview I will be doing with him this Thursday on what we can expect in next Tuesday’s season finale.
The season 4 penultimate episode of Person of Interest is titled “Asylum” and airs Tuesday at 10/9c on CBS.
