Warning: Spoilers Ahead
An “Oubliette” is a French word referring to the Cadillac of dungeons. Oubliettes are very well constructed from the captor’s point of view. With the only entrance and exit being in the ceiling far above where the prisoner stands, escape is pretty much impossible. You may have seen oubliettes depicted in horror movies — unsuspecting places where psycho killers keep their victims.
This term is the title of Friday’s episode, and as you may have guessed, it has a big significance and is actually quite fitting. From the promotional photos, you can see that both Peter and Alan have been thrown into a similar oubliette by Brother Michael after Peter reveals his brother’s secret. Given that Alan now knows of Peter’s betrayal, I would love to be a fly on the wall in that dungeon to hear some of the conversations that go on between those two.
At the end of last week’s episode, Julia is left bleeding after Hatake stabs her in the back. I had wondered whether Caleb would show back up and help her, and judging from the below photos, it looks as if I was right. However, the reunion turns out to not be a happy one because he learns of Julia’s true intentions for coming to the island and doesn’t take it very well. But, why should Caleb care that Julia is there on behalf of Ilaria? Does Caleb himself have ties to Ilaria that we don’t know about?
And, remember that wall of pictures of women in Michael’s office and how we learned you get your picture on the wall when you die? Well, Brother Michael shows his true colors, and this week one of his “3 Best Girls” gets her picture up on that wall.
Definitely is going to be one intense episode. And, if all of this isn’t enough, check out the below sneak peek. Poor, Kyle — the guy can’t catch a break! First, he’s almost stoned to death by St. Germain’s children of the corn, and this week’s he’s chased all over the orchard by a group of mycotics.
Episode 2.05 “Oubliette” of Helix airs this Friday at 10/9c on Syfy.
