Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Still trying to wrap your head around Tuesday’s jaw-dropping episode of Person Of Interest ? Yeah, I am too. We lost Detective Carter (Taraji P. Henson) about this time last season, and if history repeated itself, it stands to reason that we could lose another — especially since the trailer for “If-Then-Else” showed just about everyone on Finch’s team being taken out by Martine (Cara Buono) and Team Samaritan. Even still, seeing Shaw (Sarah Shahi) being riddled with bullets and sacrificing herself for her friends and for the mission was a tough pill to swallow.
However, the big question is did Shaw actually survive the assault? We know the girl is tough as nails, having seen her survive being shot, stabbed, and the crap beaten out of her in prior episodes. Plus, there’s the one nagging detail — we didn’t actually see her die, and so far, no body. In fact, this is the one thing that has gotten the die-hard Person of Interest fans into a frenzy — especially the devoted Sameen Shaw fans — and have them convinced that she’s still alive and will eventually return.
While I think most assumed the episode was Shaw’s swan song and she was gone for good, ironically the cast and Executive Producer Greg Plageman have a somewhat different take, one that I think will please everyone in the Shaw fandom.
Check out the below video where Plageman, Sarah Shahi and the rest of the cast discuss the episode, Shahi’s real-life pregnancy, and how the ending, indeed, left the door open for Shaw’s return:
So, what’s next? The final installment in the trilogy is titled “Control-Alt-Delete” and airs this Tuesday. From the below promo, it appears to be focused on trying to find and save Shaw. Plageman has hinted that Shaw may have survived, Root (Amy Acker) is convinced she’s still alive, and so the race is on to save the life of their fallen comrade.
“Control-Alt-Delete” Promo:
Or could the episode take an unexpected return and end with death of yet another character? We should all remember that “Control” (Camryn Manheim) survived the season finale and is still out there. Not to mention the words “Control” and “Delete” are both in the title of the episode. Will this finally be the end of Shaw’s former boss who has been nothing but a thorn in everyone’s side from the beginning? My money’s on that one, but of course, we’ll have to wait until Tuesday to find out.
Episode 4.12 of Person of Interest and the final part of the POI trilogy event airs this Tuesday at 10/9c on CBS.
