Warning: General spoilers ahead
So, what did everyone think of that cray-cray ending of last week’s episode? WTH?! What. The. Hell! Here we had the Android just randomly getting off her charger, casually going into Three’s (Anthony Lemke) quarters and pointing a gun to his head. That’s definitely not the Android we know and love. So, if that’s the case, what gives! Well, there’s been lots of speculation this past week, and all I will say is whatever you think you may know, you don’t. We do learn the “glitch” and that is causing the Android to behave so erratically and who is behind it, and the reveal I’m certain will be a shocker to everyone.
In this episode, Ryo (Alex Mallari, Jr.) makes a surprise visit to the Raza, and it’s made clear that his hatred of the crew is just as strong. In fact, as Ryo says himself to Two, “This conflict won’t ever end until one of us is dead.” Uh, oh. Could that be some kind of premonition? Either way, we are left with absolutely no doubt that Ryo will stop at nothing to make sure 1) He gets the blink-drive back. 2) The Raza crew are blotted out — permanently.
In the meantime, the storyline of Sarah (Natalie Brown) continues to evolve. While the arc may have begun as one surrounding Three, it’s actually becoming so much more. I don’t want to spoil the episode for anyone, but I will say that when the Android continues to act erratically and even stranger things begin happening throughout the ship, Sarah actually becomes very much involved in that and in the process, makes a new friend in Five (Jodelle Ferland).
For those who may not be aware, I’m in San Diego for SDCC and had the pleasure of speaking to the cast yesterday. Since I had already screened tonight’s episode, I asked Jodelle and Anthony specifically about it, and you can check out the full interview below. And, of course, be sure to tune in tonight because this is definitely an episode you won’t want to miss.
Episode 3.08 of Dark Matter is titled “Hot Chocolate” and airs tonight at 9/8c on Syfy.
