Warning: General spoilers ahead
After last Sunday’s mind-blowing ending, you might be tempted to relax and think the worse is over. Well, trust me when I say that couldn’t be further from the truth, and if I had to guess, I’d say the writers are just getting started.
In this week’s season 3 penultimate episode, things are going from bad to worse. Setrakian (David Bradley) has completed the work on the sarcophagus but can’t proceed any further due to Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones) being MIA. Eph (Corey Stoll) and Dutch (Ruta Gedmintas) offer an alternative with their new device — which seems to work quite well — but their efforts are hampered by the bad feelings (and raging testosterone!) between Dr. Goodweather and Fet (Kevin Durand).
On top of this, everything is falling apart at Feraldo’s (Samantha Mathis) headquarters as well. After the bloodbath in “The Battle of Central Park,” most of the remaining NYPD officers decide to leave the city with their families, leaving the number remaining on Feraldo’s team in the single digits. Fortunately, she crosses paths with Gus (Miguel Gomez) and Angel (Joaquin Cosio), and they offer to help. But, with the city on the verge of falling and being overrun, you have to wonder if they even stand a chance.
As if all of this isn’t bad enough, it turns out to just be the half of it. Just like last week, Sunday’s episode ends with another gigantic shocker and cliffhanger, which ultimately leaves one of our characters in peril. Yeah, it’s pretty bad, and so, if you have any booze left from last week, you probably should have it ready come Sunday.
Cas Anvar reprises his role as Sanjay Desai and Charlie Gallant guest-stars as Young Eldridge Palmer.
The season 3 penultimate episode of The Strain is titled “Do Or Die” and airs Sunday at 10/9c on FX.
