Warning: General spoilers ahead

As I have teased over the past several days, we are heading towards yet another game-changing episode of The Strain this Sunday. If you saw my piece yesterday with the fantastic promotional photos for the episode, you know that the episode impacted me in a major way, and 3 days after screening it, I’m still in awe and utterly speechless. Well, my Strainiacs, just 3 more sleeps, and you’ll get to experience this magnificent piece of screenwriting and be left shaking, traumatized, shocked, amazed, saddened, as I was and as I continue to be.

With the exception of Feraldo (Samantha Mathis), we pretty much check in with all of our major characters this week, which makes for a very intense, fast-paced episode from the get-go. Thanks to Setrakian’s (David Bradley)  magic eye drops, Palmer (Jonathan Hyde)  is back to his healthy self, and to my amazement, continues to assist Abraham. As is depicted in the below Promo, Fet (Kevin Durand)  and Setrakian are able to locate the Master’s disgusting blood factories, but as for the Egyptian cargo, unfortunately no dice. Palmer claims he can help with that, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

I’m also glad to report that we check in with Gus (Miguel Gomez)  and Angel (Joaquin Cosio) as well, which I’m sure is good news to all the Gus fans out there. The bad news is neither character is fairing well. Angel is desperately seeking medical treatment for the injury to his arm he sustained in “The Battle Of Central Park,” and Gus returns to an empty apartment feeling guilty and lost that he couldn’t protect his mother.

However, all of this pales in comparison to the main arc of the episode, which is an emerging alliance between Quinlan (Rupert Penry-Jones)  and the Ancients. Quinlan shares the information about the Egyptian cargo and warns that the Master may have brought the Old World Ancients to New York City as potential allies. Q offers to help, but unknown to him, major trouble is brewing which will ultimately derail any plans he may have had.

All in all, “White Light” is a superbly-written, top-shelf episode and one that you definitely want to watch live. Also, if you have access, I highly recommend watching at least the last 15 minutes in full HD and surround-sound. By doing so, you’ll get the full experience of the masterful choreography, the stunning special effects, and the mesmerizing soundtrack of these final scenes, which in my opinion, are Emmy-worthy.
