Warning: General spoilers ahead
With everything that has happened so far in season 2 of Dark Matter, I think there are 2 questions that are on every fan’s mind: 1) Will Six (Roger Cross) ever be part of the team again? and more importantly, 2) Is One truly dead, and if so, will there be justice for his murder? The 2nd question is a particularly hot one since every time I turn around, this question always seems to come up. Well, the good news is while neither is answered entirely, both questions are addressed to some extent in tonight’s episode.
As you may recall, a news report in last week’s episode indicated that the GA was investigating One/Derrick Moss’ (Marc Bendavid) murder and that they had a “person of interest.” And, because of the intimate nature of the relationship One and Two (Melissa O’Neil) once had, it’s not surprising that Two decides the Raza crew should take matters into their own hands. Translation — track down One’s murderer themselves and execute him.
Well, to do this, they really need to know the name of the GA’s top suspect, and to get that, they need to somehow access their database. While Five (Jodelle Ferland) may be a pretty damn good hacker, even she’s not capable of pulling off a job like this. So, Two turns to the one person she knows who might have some ideas on how they can get the intel they need — and that is Six. Of course, Six is more than happy to help, and his suggestion is for them to find an isolated outpost that is understaffed and then, hack into the main GA database from there.
Sounds like a plan except everyone on the Raza is still on the GA’s “Most Wanted” list, and so, any of them wandering freely on a GA outpost is really out of the question. Well, almost any of them…. The one member of the Raza crew who isn’t on the GA’s sh*t-list is the Android (Zoie Palmer), and with the new “emotion” chip (sorry, TNG geek in me just had to use a “Data” reference here!) she acquired in last week’s episode, she’s more than happy to give her system an upgrade and go undercover to get the information they need.
For those who have been waiting for THE episode where Zoie Palmer shines, this one is it. The Android really lets her hair down (literally!) in this episode and quite honestly, steals the show. Of course, we all know Jace Corso murdered One, and so, the big question is does the group find him? And, if they do, will Two get her pound of flesh and execute him? Sorry, folks, you’ll have to watch tonight to find out the answers to those questions! And, trust me, you don’t want to miss this one. Next to the season 2 premiere with that jaw-dropping shocker of an ending, this episode is one of the best of the season.
Episode 2.05 of Dark Matter is titled “We Voted Not To Space You” and airs tonight at 10/9c on Syfy.
