Over the past few days, bits of information on The Walking Dead companion series have slowly come out, which all started after a casting call was released a little over a week ago.
We now know that the new series will take place in Pennsylvania (this is in contrast to the earlier rumors that it would be located in Kansas), and the first 2 casting announcements have been made according to Deadline. While the series is technically not a spin-off since none of the characters will overlap, it still will take place in the same zombie apocalypse as in The Walking Dead and will center on a male divorced teacher and a female guidance counselor. Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) has been cast as the woman’s son, and Alycia Debnam Carey (Into the Storm) will portray the ambitious sister of Dillane’s character.
Like the original, this series was created by Robert Kirkman and will air on AMC. Community’s Adam Davidson will direct.
It is set to begin production this month and will premiere sometime in 2015.
