The Walking Dead companion series has officially cast its male lead, according to Entertainment Weekly. It is to be played by Cliff Curtis, a New Zealand actor who is best known for his work on the films Blow and Sunshine. He also had a lead role on the short-lived ABC drama Missing.
There are no details on Curtis’ character yet except that he is a father who is trying to do the right thing.
This news comes on the heels of the casting announcements of Frank Dillane (Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince) and Alycia Debnam Carey ( While technically not a spin-off, the companion series is written by Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson and will take place in the same zombie apocalypse as the series The Walking Dead but in a different location.
The new series has been titled Cobalt and will premiere tentatively in the summer of 2015 on AMC.
