Warning: General Spoilers Ahead

With production of season 2 of Z  Nation well under way, ansy fans have begun to wonder what to expect going into the show’s sophomore season and most importantly, whether their favorite characters survived that shocker of a season finale. Fortunately for the Z fandom out there, the cast and Executive Producers made their first ever appearance at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend for the show and spilled all the deets on what’s coming when the series finally returns this Fall. In attendance were Executive Producers Craig Engler (who also moderated the panel) and Karl Schaefer and series stars Kellita Smith, Keith Allan, Russell Hodgkinson, DJ Qualls, Nat Zang, Pisay Pao, and Anastasia Baranova. 

I had interviewed Karl Schaefer last month, and so, already had gotten lots of great intel on the new season (the link to the article is provided below), but I did get a few new details in the press room. First, *all* of our beloved characters survived that potentially deadly season 1 finale. Karl had already confirmed when I interviewed him that everyone made it, but remained silent on Citizen Z’s fate. However, after talking with DJ Qualls, I am very happy to report that his character is very much alive as well. Yay! The only catch is that his North Pole outpost was destroyed, and so, he’s now on the run. This also means no more helping the group get intel, which as we saw in season 1, was quite valuable.

It also looks like Warren’s getting a new love interest going into season 2. I had already reported that Matt Cedeno was joining the cast as a bounty hunter who is after Murphy, but as it turns out, he will eventually join the group of survivors and take a special interest in Warren. Warren doesn’t exactly have a great track history of the men in her life staying alive very long, and so, let’s hope this new guy fairs better.

Finally, the long-awaited season 2 premiere date was announced. The Z’s will officially invade our world once again on Friday, September 11th, and the best part — the show’s getting a super-sized season with a 15-episode order.
