Most fans have been biting their nails since the season 4 finale of Person of Interest aired last Tuesday, and this all continued into the weekend with no news at all on whether there will be a season 5.
Well, that all changed today where CBS announced ahead of the Upfronts scheduled for Wednesday that the series has been renewed. Besides Person of Interest 10 other scripted series were renewed today including NCIS, Blue Bloods, Hawaii Five-0, NCIS: Los Angeles, Criminal Minds, Elementary, The Good Wife, CSI: Cyber and The Odd Couple. Unscripted staples Survivor, The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss will also return, as will news magazines 60 Minutes and 48 Hours.
Unfortunately, while the series did get picked up for season 5, it may be only a partial order. We don’t know the exact number yet, but as of now, Deadline is reporting that it’s for 13 episodes. That’s not exactly the best news given the exact same thing happened to The Mentalist , and we know what happened to that show. Regardless, at this point, I’ll take it because a 13-episode renewal is, by all means, better than a cancellation.
Be sure to check back with the site as we learn more about about this partial renewal situation.
