Way back in the day, before The Walking Dead, before The Strain, before Z Nation, I was a superfan of the FOX crime drama, Bones. And, my absolute favorite character on the show was Dr. Zack Addy played by the immensely-talented Eric Millegan. Then, in the season 3 finale, the mother of all shockers was dropped in the fans’ laps when it was revealed that our dear, sweet Zack had become the apprentice of the serial killer known as the Gormogon.
After that, Dr. Addy was swiftly sent off to the looney bin, and except for a single, brief appearance in season 4, the character has been MIA for over 7 seasons even though the storyline left one of the biggest hanging chads in the history of television. In an admission to Dr. Sweets, Zack reveals that he never killed anybody, but only helped and provided information to the Gormogon. That admission gave fans a great deal of hope that Zack may be exonerated and possibly return to the Jeffersonian, and so much so that campaigns were started in an effort to Bring Back Zack. But, in the end, nada.
However, now that the series is officially ending with a shortened season 12, it appears that the powers-that-be have finally decided to honor the fans’ pleas and bring back the fan-favorite. Speaking to TVLine, Bones‘ executive producer Michael Peterson said he wants the character to make a return:
“It seems like the right thing to do. I will say this: I know what the fans want, and as much of a roller coaster ride as we may put them through, we want to deliver.
I watched the show before I was ever writing on the show, and I think what Eric brought to that character was fantastic. I’ll make a promise to try really hard to make it happen.”
To be honest, I haven’t watched Bones since Zack’s final episode in season 4, and so the question is will I watch the final season if Eric Millegan makes his long-awaited return? Hell, yeah!! Dr. Addy is a very unique character and in my opinion, one of the best things about the show.
