If you read my review of last week’s episode, you will recall that was the focus of the episode. And, going into this week’s Season Finale, we are all wondering if we’ll find out which force will win, and if so…which one? Unfortunately, we don’t get a definitive answer, but things are certainly looking better for one than the other.
The mediation this week involves a TV network that is being sued for firing two women who had an office romance. While upper management looked the other way with other relationships, they’re claiming they were fired because they are lesbians. But, like most of Kate Reed’s (Sarah Shahi) cases, things aren’t quite as they seen. After some investigating, Kate begins suspecting that maybe the women weren’t fired because of their relationship – the network used that as an excuse to fire one of them to bury her story on a shady company called Selix. One of the women, Rachel, was investigating Selix and a bogus land deal it was involved in with the city, and after charming the IT guy at the TV network into doing some snooping, Kate is handed some pretty shocking information. Not only was the Selix deal the reason for Rachel’s termination, the company has ties not only to District Attorney Davidson (Esai Morales) but also our handsome billionaire, Robin Archer (Clyde Owen). Something tells me Lauren (Virginia Williams) did right by dumping the guy, but will she be wooed back?
Now, on to the big question that I’m sure most viewers are interested in: Do Kate and Ben (Ryan Johnson) hook up? Well, I’m not going to tell you – you’ll just have to watch the episode! But, I will say that the promos didn’t lie when it hinted that Kate and Justin (Michael Trucco) were headed for a break-up. The episode begins hopeful for “Team Justin” as Kate agrees to move in with Justin, and they set out apartment hunting. Justin wants a large, spacious place, but all that Kate wants is a small one, with bay windows, and a terrace that looks down on something besides cold concrete. As they continue to disagree more and more, we can see the stressed look on Kate’s face that tells us this couple isn’t going to make it. So, yes, Kate dumps Justin, and while I’m not on “Team Justin”, I even thought it was heart wrenching.
“I know we’re good for each other, but I don’t think we’re meant to be together. I’m so sorry, I really do love you” – Kate to Justin
Wow. Poor Justin. But, as for a blatant Ben and Kate hook-up….Honestly, that would have been too obvious of a thing to do, and the writers of Fairly Legal are way better than that. Instead, they drop a mother of a bombshell in your lap in the last minute of the episode, which in my opinion, is much better than just having Kate throw herself at Ben and their having wild animal sex all night long. Yes, really. Watch the episode Friday night – I guarantee you won’t be disappointed!
But, the bad news is with such a big cliffhanger, we have a damn long wait. Plus, as of this writing, it still hasn’t been announced if there will be a Season 3 of Fairly Legal. Let’s just hope so – otherwise I’m afraid the folks on “Team Ben” may just go a “basket full of crazy”.
Til we meet again next season, folks!!!
