To those who are fans of Syfy’s critically-acclaimed space drama The Expanse, actor Cas Anvar is Alex Kamal, the pilot of the Rocinante, and is known for keeping things light-hearted in the face of extreme adversity with his famously hilarious catch phrases like “donkey balls.” But, in tonight’s 3.05 episode of The Strain, Anvar trades in his spaceship gear for a snappy 3-piece suit as suave Sanjay Desai.
Desai is introduced as a new associate of Eichhorst and Palmer, with the only catch being no one informed Palmer about the partnership. So, obviously, Palmer is upset because he’s being kept in the dark, and he doesn’t seem to trust Desai. However, Palmer not trusting their new associate is actually irrelevant because just from the mere fact that Desai is working closely with Eichhorst, we know nothing good is going to come out of this new business arrangement. The character makes a brief appearance in tonight’s episode but will have a much larger role in 3.08 which is titled “White Light.”
I really can’t say much more without spilling the major storyline in the episode, but I will tease that Desai’s role in the Master’s plot may be related to a huge discovery Setrakian and Quinlan make in the Lumen. Just like the past 2 episodes, “Madness” is a mind-bender and will drop yet another bomb on us by the end of the hour, thus guaranteeing another full week of theories, speculation, and just general excitement about the show. So, get ready, everyone, and hang onto the rails!
